Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against 38 Patients

Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor now faces charges for carrying out sexual assaults against 38 victims who were patients.

The Serious Charges

The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.

A deputy chief prosecutor stated, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”

Scope of the Investigation

The charges come after what investigators called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.

Spencer will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.

List of Charges

The charging documents said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:

  • 15 counts of assault.
  • Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
  • 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
  • 3 counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
  • One count of attempted penetrative assault.
