The application, which has more than 200 million users worldwide, states that cybercriminals had targeted a company that was responsible for authenticating the age verification of its users but Discord's own systems was not breached.
Users can provide official pictures to verify their age on Discord - a communication platform for gamers to chat and distribute materials with others in the player network.

The platform said it has terminated the external company's access to the infrastructure that was targeted in the breach. Discord chose not to specify the external provider compromised.
Divergent Reports
Some online commentators have claimed that the information leak was more extensive than Discord has revealed.
A official for Discord commented that those claims are inaccurate and "constitute an effort to coerce funds" from the company.
"We will not reward those responsible for their illegal actions," the representative continued.
Importance of Individual Details
Digital thieves often pursue individual details, which can fetch substantial sums on the illegal marketplace for use in scams.
Information like full names and government identification codes is particularly prized because, in contrast to financial data, it typically remains unchanged through the years.
