Iran Reports Attack on US Base in Bahrain, During Regional Military Operations.

Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in response for a large-scale and ongoing attack against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The full scale of any damage is unclear and the US has remained silent.

Regional Interceptions

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, the State of Qatar and Kuwait - all home to American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far struck areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.

Wider Impacts

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE announced that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems engaged the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a series of missiles," the statement continued.

The statement noted wreckage fell on a populated district in Abu Dhabi, causing some property damage and fatalities.

The US Air Force operates from Al Dhafra Air Base, to the south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
